Sharon Gless 1943 május 31.-én született Los Angeles-ben (California,).2 Gyermeke van egy fiú és egy lány.Sharon színésznő szeretett volna lenni.És ebben nagyapja támogatta.Gyakran fel is kereste hogy tanácsokat kérjen tőle.Nagyapja ügyvéd volt,gyakran bátorította és beszélgetett el vele a színjátszásról plusz ő adott neki pénzt hogy belevágjon a karrierjébe is.1974-ben aláírt egy 10-éves szerződést a Universal Studios-nál.1991-óta van együtt a férjével Barney Rosenzweig-el.

Szerepet kapott többek között a Bring Him Home-ban, a Hannah Free-ben, az Once Fallban is. Az utolsó filmje 2013-ban jelent meg. Több nívós díjat is kapott, illetve többre jelölték is. Emmy és Golden Globe-t is kapott már.

Több színházi szerepet is kapott. Olyan előadásokban szerepelt, mint a The Alan Titchmarsh Show.
